A ready supply of fresh, clean water is imperative for our livelihood. Although Taiwan has one of the highest rainfalls in the world, Taiwan is prone to frequent droughts. To teach the citizens how to conserve water, we—in collaboration with Coca Cola Corp—have designed Taiwan’s first water footprint calculator.
Water is a common asset of the planet and requires sustainable management. On 2nd December 2009, Coca-cola and EQPF co-launched the “Water Bank” campaign. By managing their water account online through this virtual institute, not only people could learn more about the status of water usage in Taiwan but also realize the importance of water conservation. More information is available at: www.waterbank.com.tw/
To enhance the water education for children, we hold a Green Water contest, inviting the elementary schools of the mid- and south-Taiwan suffering from serious water shortage to save water by calculating their water footprint. EQPF would then visit the 10 schools which save the most water, and introduce some useful and valuable teaching tools for the children about the importance of water conservation.
