Forests

Taiwan Climate Protection Memorial Forest

Reforestation is a cost-effective way to combat global warming because forest acts as carbon sink and helps support the local ecosystem. In 2007, we partnered with the Experimental Forest Department and the Global Change Research Center at National Taiwan University to initiate the first reforestation project in Taiwan. A total of 41,520 trees were planted on 30.79 hectares of land.

“Relieve Taiwan” Campaign

In 2009, we collaborated with FamilyMart and launched the “Relieve Taiwan – 8 Hectare Tree Planting Campaign” to raise funds for tree planting in Taiwan. To promote our cause, we have held the “Green Your Life” exhibition in visible locales around Taiwan including at the Taoyuan International Airport, the Taipei Medical University, and the Nangang Exhibition Hall.

Old Tree Protection Volunteer Program

Trees, especially old trees, suffer from pests and diseases just as humans do. Old trees have supported our ecosystem for the past hundreds of years and are invaluable green assets. However, many have died from misdiagnosis or delayed treatment due to the lack of care or ignorance. In 2008, we launched the “Protecting Green Assets—Saving and Protecting Old Trees” Campaign (sponsored by Kimberly). The purpose of this campaign is two-fold: to recruit people to help care for the old trees and to raise awareness to our cause. Workshops for volunteers have been held in Taipei, Tainan, and Nantou districts.
